Default V70 shared parts with Ford

Does anyone know what parts the V70 and the Mondeo or other Ford model are shared. I ask because at some point I / we all need parts but I reckon Ford would be cheaper than Volvo. I can't imagine either Ford or Volvo would be forthcoming with the information.

Suspension is definately shared with the Mondeo, I'm not sure about the brakes. Certain engines and gearboxes are shared with ford (4cyl diesels) along with the drivetrain. There are some oddities though - JLR reversing sensors are interchangeable, as are some wing mirrors.

When I had the front tyres of my V70 R-Design replaced the fitter said did I know that the brakes where the same as the Focus ST. I don't know if that's true or not.

Fuse boxes in the boot have FoMoCo moulded into the plastic. My Freelander 2 has Volvo modules under the seats so they've all come out of the same parts bin.

The most annoying thing is if you have a Ford engined one and you buy a fuel filter from Volvo. Comes in a Volvo box with a Volvo price tag but is stamped FoMoCo!! Really bugs me that!

On my 09 2.0D V70 the brakes are S-Max / Galaxy ........... suspension is mostly Mondeo Mk4 ........... Windscreen washer pumps are S-Max ........

However, it is often cheaper to buy the Volvo part than the genuine Ford part !

As an example I needed a thermostat for the PSA engine as it was opening 10C too early ........... Ford £97 ...... Aftermarket prices varied from £45 - £95 ...... the Genuine Volvo (Ford) part was £34 !

Genuine Ford trailing arm bushes are a little more expensive than the volvo bushes ...........

A lot of the time I tend to research the OEM supplier to volvo / Ford and then buy that part through an aftermarket source. All OEM parts are dual sourced for obvious reasons ............ one of the OEM's for the rear trailing arm bushes was Bilstein (Germany). Their bushes via aftermarket are £15 (trade) against the Volvo / Ford price of almost £100.

Other way around ! Volvos have always had big brakes , ford pinched them ..like they did the 300 bhp R engine and wouldn't let volvo use it's own engine .
