For decades, drivers have been accustomed to accessing and driving cars with physical keys. But no longer. In a ground-breaking move for the automotive industry, Volvo Cars plans to become the world’s first car manufacturer to offer cars without keys from 2017.

makes sense to the marketing types, cars are now sold as carriers for gadgets, not means of transport. Who doesnt live their lives according to the gospel of apple ?

Keyless cars are not a new thing, my mate's Morris Minor could be opened and started with any old bit of metal. Lol.

On a more serious note, I saw a car on the Ellen show today (no, I don't normally watch it) that could be started from an i-phone app. It was a Chevrolet Malibu.

Volvo on call already lets you open the car with the fingerprint tech on iphone 5s and above, natural progression to let you get in and drive off. Maybe one day we will pay less to insure our cars than our phones.
