Exclamation S40 S 2006 2.0L Petrol Burning lots of oil.

Volvo S40 S 2006 burning about 0.75L every 160 Miles, well out of spec.

Was running completely fine but noticed a squeal/whine on startup that goes away/reduces after warming up.

Saw lots of other posts about PCV valve and wondered if it was perhaps blocked. Oil Cap does seem to be pushing out some air but squealing didn't seem to go down. No engine warning lights (Will do a diagnostics check at some point).

Car has 146,000 Miles. Gonna double check the oil cap with the glove test soon.

Thanks in advance!

Can't confirm that the PCV on the S40 is causing this but I have had this on both a 5 cylinder XC70 as well as my 6 cylinder XC60 - the latter I caught well before it became a problem.

So it is a most likely cause of your symptom. BTW it is not burning the oil - it probably pushes it out somewhere, In my XC70 case it pushed it out and eventually ruptured the cam seal
