Default Anti Skid service, again

Message came up about a week ago, so I had a search on here. Seems there are about 100 different faults that could cause this, but I don't have a code reader here, and being in deepest darkest central Portugal, with its associated language challenges, makes every garage visit a bit of a lottery...
Anyway. Driving back last night I noticed that the 'active bending lights' were completely inactive, and having read in a recent thread that the steering angle sensor can somehow affect the ABS....
what does anyone think?

Pity we are not both at home - I'm in Spain...

When I had the same message, it was the SAS - fortunately covered under the extended warranty

Cheers

Yes it can be the SAS - but you will need to get the codes read somehow as it's probably one of the most expensive parts that can could the issue.

ok, I got the codes read today and sure enough, it's the steering angle sensor, or 'sensor do angulo do volante' ....
So, my question is, does anyone have experience of the cheap chinese sensors for sale on ebay? I know the 'cheap chinese' gets a lot of stick, but pretty much everything electronic i own is....cheap and from China....

also, there appear to be at least three different part numbers and wiring layouts, is it possible to be 100% sure which one is fitted without removing the steering wheel to check?

answering my own questions here...
popped the covers off and part number is visible. 'unbranded' part ordered here in Portugal, princely sum of 74 euros inc postage.
Got to be worth a punt as saving £300....

Let us know if it fixes your issue.

I have the same issue on my '12 XC90.

Ok, an update. Cheapie sensors advertised in Portugal and Spain didn't materialise, but a friend flew back to UK for a few days and brought back a £170 ebay one. Just fitted it, made no difference.
Just need to say that the fault has gone away twice now- once for about a mile, and last Friday for half an hour or so, until I stopped for fuel and it returned when I started it again.
So, now what?
(oh, and I disconnected the plug with engine running so now have airbag warning as well )

Smile did you calibrate it?

Im pretty sure you have to calibrate the sensor with vida, i recall involves moving the steering full range and setting in straight ahead position..
