Default Low emission zone

These are being implemented in most cities I believe that most of the models on this section of the forum will be over the allowed limit

Unfortunately you're probably right about being over the prescribed limits, the only thing I would advise is to check wherever you're going for yourself using genuine .gov websites, there's a lot of media hype about this and (leaving aside any environmental argument) a lot of it is wrong regarding the details of which cars and where. London for instance has the Congestion Charge - you pay for just being in Central London, the Low Emission Zone - charges lorries for being inside the M25, and the Ultra Low Emission Zone - charges older 'polluting' vehicles currently for being in Central London (same as the Congestion Charge Area) but expanding to the North and South Circular soon; if you know London it's confusing enough and the media often run alarmist articles confusing the three zones, and I've even been on an 'approved' course for HGV drivers where they presented the congestion charge map as the LEZ map, took some time to persuade the course presenter he was presenting rubbish.

A timely conversation. I'm going to Twickenham on Saturday in the Euro 6 Discovery 4. I'm assuming I can get there without going near ULEZ and attracting a £15 charge (from the M25 and across to Twickenham on the A316)?

Both my C70 and V40 will only attract the congestion charge - which I presume applies to all private vehicles within the congestion charge area regardless of emissions.

You can check for London at tfl.gov.uk, check car with reg no and/or address you're going to.
Presumably other towns have similar.

400-ascona, worth a double check with a Land Rover as some of them can be classed as commercials for some weird reason.

Does anyone know if an LPG conversion makes an 850 compliant?

Just wondering as I'll probably fit one to my 850R at some point - I had a phase 1 V70R (so mechanically almost identical) on LPG a few years back and it ran better on gas than petrol!

Re the LandRover issue - I've also heard of this. The problem seems to affect Defenders rather than Discoveries but its definitely worth checking.

I've done a bit of reading around the LPG question I raised earlier. Its not good news...

According to TfL, they are basing their compliance on the vehicle's original emissions and are ignoring LPG conversions. So despite them being far cleaner running than petrol, LPG owners will still have to pay up.

They suggest a way of gaining compliance is to buy a new car. Well thats environmentally friendly isn't it...

Fortunately, for the time being, Twickenham is outside the new ULEZ borders due to come in later this year (September?).

There has been rumblings that the Mayor of London wants to further expand the ULEZ out to the M25, but that is not going to happen at the moment.

I'll end this post here before I get to rant mode and my blood pressure starts rising!!!!!!

Twickenham is outside the new ULEZ zone (expanded out to the North and South Circulars), due to come in in October this year
