Hence I stated the RT mechanics example. Some would say what he has acheived with his car is best example of Volvo Tuning, others would disagree.

It might be best if what was said on T5D5 and whats said on here was kept seperate though.
I agree, but keith has been invited over to share his views with them various times but he always refuses. I would quite gladly discuss my brakes with him on there or VPC. Trouble is on here, it's not a tuning community. If Keith wants to argue and comment on the T4 limitations, why not use the forum with a huge wealth of knowledge and experience on that very subject. I use all the 3 main forums and posted this thread on all of them. Keith has a T5 yet comes on the T4 forum to comment, thus avoiding the other forums as he knows the outcome won't be good for him.

Maybe we should get Ashok over here to put this to rest lol

After all, I would say he is the one guy who has truly been there and done it all on the T4. Spent thousands on different set ups to find the perfect one that suits the car and knows the car inside out.

There are a few T5D5 members on here who run T4's, some modifed others not. And a few who use them on track. If they want to say something then they are fully able to!

I've just seen one of them viewing this thread now. lol

Is that really neccesary? The debate started off with a big brake upgrade and it's effect on the car, it had nothing to do with engine tuning until the arguement turned into personal bickering.

Unsprung weight and it's effect on suspension and other areas is pretty much well known. If the new kit is lighter than standard then great, if it's heavier then it could potentially make the car worse. I commented about a car on another thread being the lowest modifed car of that model. Personally I felt that it must have been undriveable as it must surely bounce and skip over bumps as there was no suspension to absorb them. Suspension is desgined to help the wheel maintain contact with the road at all times, increasing grip.

It makes a world of difference to the handling though. My friend has a fiesta ST that's 'slammed' on the ground and although most kids do it to look 'cool' the cars absolutely stick to the road.

Look at all of Volvos BTCC racing cars - They're on the floor. Uncomfortable maybe, but excellent for handling.

I would have mine lower if the roads where I live allowed it, however anything more than a 30mm drop will have my sump ripped off most likely.

It's okay on the race track Alex but a different matter on public roads. I would like to see one of these cars try and take a motorway slip road with a bad expansion joint at speed! Not something you find at Silverstone!

Oh I agree, it's just not practical having a really low car on our roads, they're are less than useless on public roads and are just ridiculously bouncy.

I only lowered mine as I thought the suspension was a tad on the sloppy side, but then I did have drop links that were shot and my top mounts were knackered, springs were cracked, also I don't think the 16" wheels helped.

Secondly I thought the gap between the wheel and the arch was way too big on the T4 but that's personal taste

My bro used to have a Classic Mini Cooper and that was lowered on to the bump stops. It was fantastic in the corners....

.... unless there was bump.
