Default Fitting Alarm

Firstly, The Volvo Guard Anti-Theft Alarm came in three models: The basic alarm,
the Guard Alarm I and the Guard Alarm II. Only the Guard Alarm I appeared
to use the grey, rectangular Remote Control, the other two appeared to use
the square black Remote Controls. You will need to check which one you have
acquired from your donor vehicle.

Some units were factory fitted, so that the alarm wiring loom is integrated with the
main loom between the dashboard and the engine components. Other units may have
been dealer fitted, possibly with an additional loom for the purpose.

You should remove the small wiring loom which connects the control unit to the
sensors as this was supplied as part of the alarm. Some of it's connectors are
specific to the alarm and are not used elsewhere on the car. You would also need
to be able to identify the various cables in the loom to establish which connections
are which.

Systems used either radio or infra-red signals, with the reciever in the control unit
mounted on the windscreen A-pillar.

As to sensors, you will probably have at least a bonnet sensor and possibly a glass
break sensor visible on the dashboard. Other sensors were available as extras.
