Default 240 won't start first thing in the morning

I'm fixing this car for my son who is not a morning person so perhaps I shouldn't be worried, he never seems to get up before 11am, muso's hours, yeah right!
The problem is it refuses to start in the morning, and now I've gone through quite a lot to get it happening.. I found that there was a windscreen leak which channelled early morning condensation right down onto the fuse box making all fuses wet.
I did a pretty rough job with the proper sealant and seem to have created a dry environment for the fuse box.
Then I rubbed every fuse end and the insides of every fuse housing with 1200 wet and dry paper. Made sure of every fuse in the process. But still it persists in being a lazy mid morning riser. I'd like the boy to get a job and start early but if the car did this he'd probably just go back to bed. It just won't do.
Besides I wanted to use it this morning but had to take the other 240.
Tonight I covered the engine and all electrics under the bonnet with an old blanket to attempt to localize my problem. There's always heaps of condensation all over the engine each morning so perhaps somewhere there is where the bad contact is lurking. I'm hoping however that it's still got to do with the fuse box because I can attack that easier.
I'm now planning to undo the two locating screws that hold the fuse assembly on and then, one by one take off every wire that's attached , clean each terminal and refit using a small amount of vaseline hopefully to prevent oxidation where I expose the nice bright copper.
Any advice guys?
Cheers,
Dan

is the fuel pump priming ok? you should hear it buzz for about 1 second when you turn the ignition on.

new plugs are only around £10, worth changing if you dont know how old the current ones are,

Check you are getting good power from the power stage with the ign on

Check the inside of the dizzy cap, make sure its not damp in there, wipe round a little wd40 inside the cap

If in doubt change the rotor arm, cap and leads.
