Fuel Evaporative Emission Control - Carbon Canister
How much of an impact does this generally have on the engine's performance? I've read that if it is not in good order it can cause idling problems, stalling, and poor driveability.
Mine was in quite a poor state with the pop-on cover on the bottom of the "carbon canister" having popped-off exposing a very dirty dust filter and the narrow pipe from the fuel tank was also split where it pushed onto the top of the canister. I've since cut this back and made the connection good. I wonder if I should replace the whole lot.. I notice there is a short, stubby hose that passes through the floor of the engine bay and exits near the horn. What is this for? |

IIRC that is just a drain for the canister should neat fuel get into it. All the best, Peter |
