Default 940 Turbo Exhaust

Well the time has come to start replacing the downpipe on the old girl.
Haynes implies that to do so might need to disconnect the whole system all the way back to fit it.
Not having a pit or a ramp (but widow makers) I would be laoth to start banging about underneath to get the old off. A new one is £95 to the door incl VAT from Nordic. the local Humphries wants to charge £135 for one including fitting. There seem to be no stainless versions available but have been quoted for

Wanted to get a consensu of opinion from those in the know.

Is it worth getting the local to fit or is it easier than it looks to fit? Are there any issues I should be aware of - the what will go wrong when I dont have the bit scenario?

Any VOC members in the Thames Valley taht would be prepared to help would be welcomed
Many thanks
Tony

Tony old pal, the only thing that has to be loosened off is the bracket that holds the downpipe to the bell housing. It would probably be enough to unbolt the bracket from the bell housing, remove the downpipe, loosely fit the bracket to the new downpipe, bolt up the new one and then bolt up the bracket. You should be able to undo the bracket from the top of the engine bay and certainly the turbo connection from the top. Stainless Steel downpipes are frowned on as they are more prone to splitting than Mild Steel in use.

All the best, Peter

Peter,
That sounds so easy - and I am sure it is - just unusually nervous for a change.
What about the connection to the cat - it looks like there is a clamp/ gasket (?) - will that need replacing as well to maintain the seal?
Is there another one at the turbo end as well?

just hope the cat doesnt need doing as well!

Dont feel like digging a pit in the garage and I cant see my way to buying a hydraulic lift as SWMBO has started to see the old girl as a money pit - well OK I did splash out and get the AC sorted (cough cough) but the essentials have now started to appear and so need doing.

If your wife thinks the old Volvo is a money pit, just show her the cost of getting a new lease car.
