Drilled Airbox
I have a Volvo 940 2.0, i have searched the market for induction kits yet none are available apart from for the turbo model. Having replaced the standard air filter with K&N i had heard that if i drilled holes in the bottom of the air filter box it would have the same effect as adding an induction kit! ie more performance and a throaty noise... has anyone heard or did this!?!?! Any help or advice would be appreciated

RE: Drilled Airbox
ive got the same model. what kind of performance increase do you think you'll see from an induction kit. Did you see much from the k&n filter?

On the American Brickboard site recently there were actually some results published of proper tests of the intake restriction of the standard induction system. The conclusion was that that if you are gullible enough for a bit of extra noise to convince you that your car is more powerful, then waste your money on K&N filters and big-bore exhuasts etc. Your 2 litre is just not capable of causing an air flow that would even begin to trouble the standard system. Lets face it,in the real world no manufacturer in his right mind is going to restrict the efficiency of his design by something as simple and ( to him ) cheap to produce as a free flowing induction system. Why not spend your money on a nice boot mounted spoiler to increase the down-force and improve the already suberb road holding. And if you believe that, you`ll believe anything !!!!!
