Default XC70 Mudflaps?

A bit of advice from all you XC70 owners out there...
Have any of you fitted Volvo or 'universal' mudflaps?
Is it worth the extra cost to get the genuine Volvo parts? not megabucks at £45 a pair but thought i'd ask around. They look like they're a cinch to fit.
But the cheapos are, well, much cheaper.
I'm hoping they'll keep some the impending salt etc off the plastic trim panels which are a real pain to keep clean.

Volvo ones...

cheap ones...

Thanks in advance,
Stu.

I've tried with universal mudflaps for other people on their cars and they never fit and they look pants. You're better off with the proper Volvo ones. I had a set on my old S40 and they looked really good. They're on the upgrade list for the XC as I don't want those big all terrain tyres kicking stones onto our new caravan!!

Thanks (Sean?), i've got them on the front of my V70 and they've done a good job of protecting the lower doors / sills.
Not so keen on the 'off road' look but from a practical point of view i think they're a must. And they might reduce some of that spray on the tailgate window.
Stu.

Ps had a go at the plastic today with some stuff i already had in the garage, a big bottle of AutoGlym 'Bumper Care'. Not as hi tech as the stuff you recommended but seeing a i had a free bottle from years ago figured i'd use it. i did get some good beading from a brief rain shower but not sure how long it will last.

No worries, Sasha please Everything is explained here

I don't find my car too bad for getting dirty but it is covered in ceramics so the dirt doesn't stick. With so much plastic trim on the XC it is worth looking at ceramics

stu440,

For what its worth i fitted Volvo OEM mudflaps all round when i got my car back in the summer. I debated whether to go spurious or OEM, the quality, fit and ease of fit for the cost made the Volvo OEM best choice even for the additional cost.

In my opinion they look great and set the car off.

The listing for the genuine Volvo ones are the front only so you will still need the rears

Hi stu440, I fitted genuine Volvo ones to my XC 70. They are a doddle to fit, fit extremely well, look good, and are available at a good price from FRF. Don't think they'll reduce rear screen spray quantity though.

My XC70 came with rear mudflaps fitted but not front ones I considered volvo one for the front but the cost seemed some what high for what they are so went with some after market ones which are a softer rubber type so less prone to breakage when traveling across uneven ground.

for what they cost I think they look OK but that just my opinion
