V70 Estate. Spare wheel issue????

I'm just about to buy a v70 LPG estate, but it has a huge 100 ltr tank. I think im going to buy a smaller one to fit ion the spare wheel well. But what do you recommend for a spare wheel option??

advice gratefully appreciated

A spacesaver wheel and tyre in a bag loose in the boot is the answer. You can always risk leaving it behind if you are short on space.

Ive heard there some gel you can have injected into the tires that makes them like run flats. Has anyone else heard about this?

ohhh Mr 40 I think your missing the point of a forum.If everybody simply answered "ask a mechanic....simple!" every time someone posts a question engine related then there wouldn't be very much point of us being here.

just to say i have a space saver but i dont think it fits the front of my t5 had to put it on the rear and rear wheel to the front.....

i always carry a can of tyre weld(£6.oo) and a tyre pressure pump,usualy in case the caravan gets a puncture.(no spare)...geoff.

Hmmm Thats an interesting point. I was considering the spacesaver route. But I think run flats or the tire gel stuff is going to be a better option. Thanks for the pointers.

I have a 60 litre LPG tank in the spare wheel well of my V70, and carry a full-size spare in a purpose-made nylon bag in the boot.

I've never been stuck for space, and never had to leave the spare behind.

I've heard that these tyre-weld tins will get you home, but will ruin the tyre. Also, they're no good if the tyre has side-wall damage.

A temporary skinny spare would sem to be a good compromise.

Thanks for that. That was another alternative, but... I have a sub in the boot. Just to add to the woes!!!

Its running on 16" Alloys I was considering changing the tyres to run flats. But this seems to be another expensive alternative.
