My tailgate did that on me today as well. I was just putting the charging cable back when it started to close. I moved my head out of the way, but the tailgate still hit my arm and carried on closing. I expected it to stop closing or even open again if it hit an obstacle, but apparently not. The key was in my pocket, so I assumed I had caught the button accidentally. I'll be more wary in future.

If you had the key in your pocket, any movement by your feet near the sensor under the rear bumper will trigger the boot to close.

This has been the case since the foot sensor opening was first offered on the SPA cars.

It’s happened to me several times - best thing to do is put the key in one of the door pockets whilst loading/unloading the boot.

I bet! I nearly got decapitated but that was because I dived back into my he boot and my partner pressed the button to close it on me. Hopefully it wasn’t deliberate…

I’ve just done 650 miles so might relax once I get over the 1k mark. Have you had any other strange behaviours from the car?

Trouble is, when I have finished putting the cable away, I then lock the car using the button in the boot. How long before I lock my key in the car!

A very long time - the boot lock button only works when you've got the key about your person; try it without the key and the car will simply beep at you.

None yet, car is lovely to drive to be fair, so smooth and comfortable. What mpg are you getting from yours? Ours has dropped from 33 to 32.7. Hoping this will start to creep up overtime.

I love mine and agree it’s very smooth and easy to drive, albeit it’s a bit noisy when revved but that seems the same across most of the Volvo petrol engines. The MPG hasn’t been too bad. I do some very short journeys throughout the week which causes it to tumble but after a few longer journeys (in eco mode) the app is saying I’m at 36.2 mpg which is fine.

Cool

This is what you all get when you choose B instead of D or T.
Just saying ...

Today I had this same fault. Thought I had avoided this issue but when I started up the car after dropping my son off at the childminders it came up. I did limp it back home because I only live a short distance and it’s mainly 20/30mph. Got Volvo coming out today. Hopefully they are wiser as to what the issue is. Are Volvo quite forthcoming with hire cars as I have some longer journeys coming up and really need a reliable car?

So disappointed!
