Does parking lengthways along a fence, driver's side, make much difference to them getting the cat off?
Hi,

Sorry to hear this has spread to your area also.

Recommendations from the police are garage, if not well lit drive, park with exhaust side of the car next to an obstacle (e.g., wall or hedge) if you can and don't park with half of the car on the pavement (you shouldn't anyway!) as this eases access for CAT theft.

Other advice from police if you see it happening is, do not intervene (for your own safety) , dial 999, gather as much intelligence / photographic evidence as you safely can, number plates of getaway car (they will be false but most gangs only have 2 or 3 and alternatives and rotate after each job so ANPR can help).

I will park exhaust side to our hedge when we are away. As said, this causes problems getting out but I can just about climb out via passenger seat. Otherwise I park one of other (non CAT theft desirable) cars very close alongside to hamper access. I also have a sign for the front window with picture of the replacement £50 CAT so hopefully they will not bother. Wife wouldn't let me add expletives!

Good luck,
LeeP
