S40 V40: Nearside driveshaft bearing size

Hello all, this is my first post, so please be gentle.
I need to replace the inner CV boot on the nearside on my '99 V40, and I've got a choice of three bearing sizes for the little end of the boot.
Can anyone tell me the exact size for a 1.8 petrol on a W plate please?

The only way to be sure is to measure the driveshaft with a pair of calipers.

The different sizes will be for auto, Volvo manual or Renault manual.

I've just been outside with a vernier on my brake and the shaft diameter is 26.2mm. It's all I could really measure with the shaft in situ, so I'm guessing that means a 28mm bearing?

If I have read your original post correctly, you are replacing the cv boot. If that is the case you do not need to worry about bearing size as the boot fits onto the drive shaft.

Edit, I have just re-read your original post. If you have the Renault box, yes the inner nearside boot will have a bearing on the little end to allow the shaft to turn - the large end is bolted directly to the gearbox and the boot doesn't turn.

If there are still different sizes with a Renault box you will need to measure the small end of the boot to determine the size.

I can't unfortunately as some clever sausage has wrapped the boot in black gaffer tape.
I could leave it for the MOT and see what they say but I wouldn't personally pass it.

Ah, a bit of a b*gger.

If you have the Renault box - reverse is top left - the boot will have a bearing. I would think there is only one size for that, so any factors should be able to supply the correct part from your reg number, engine and gearbox info.

If it's only the boot that is split & oil is not leaking through the bearing ? Then you can replace just the rubber boot without needing to worry what size the bearing is. Here is what i used on mine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140656499...Bk9SR-ibtb6zYQ
The hole is also big enough to stretch over the tripod joint without needing to remove it from the shaft.
