Default S60 or v60 plug in hybrid

Dear forumer and Volvo owner,

I am seeking advice on whether the s60 or v60 plug-in hybrid models are dependable for daily use. How about the fuel consumption, are they good?
Planning to buy this vehicle for my private hired vehicle in London.

Appreciate your feedback and sharing knowledge.

Previous I own v40 2.0 1998, V70 T5 manual 2001, Xc90 d5 2003 and currently Xc90 d5 r design.

I have a V60T6 with the 18.4??kwh battery, which is good for 40+miles. I charge with a 3 pin mains plug, and as I don't use car every day slow charging is not a problem. I have slowed down as driving >50mph quickly chews battery. V60 or S60 depends if u like estates. I do so I got V60. Suspect once seated you probably won't be able to tell which is which. I think of my T6 as only electric as 90% of my journeys can be done on the one charge. If the range looks tight, you can always complete journey with ICE.
Cheers Bob

Thank you for sharing.
In terms of fuel, what is the average mpg for petrol? Any ideas when you should change the battery?

The S60 is a lovely exec saloon, not sure about how they feel without nice leather interior.

The Hybrid would be perfect, even when the battery is empty, it will still try it's best to keep the engine off when in traffic / waiting etc.

Not sure about the newer ones in winter, as the older ones keep the heating going with fuel heater and keep the engine off also.

Just bear in mind, the S60 headroom when getting in for taller people is a bit tight, the rear doors aren't huge and the rear leg room is what it would be in say an Audi A5 (my seat is all the way back as a tall driver)

Enjoy!

I have experimented several times what the mpg is for just petrol. Its not a simple task as the car will ALWAYS try to switch to battery ( ie car going down hill) Results i have gained are 20mpg when running local A roads( a surprise and disappointment) but on last run between scotch corner and newark on A1 I got 40mpg@65mph.
I have calculated running petrol only is x2 electric cost.
Cheers Bob.

I met a private driver with an s60 plugin hybrid, he never worried about charging the battery and just kept running with petrol. He gets an average FC 38mpg city and 50+mpg for the motorway. Definitely, he suggests this model. Comfort is better than c class or 3 series.

Any ideas about when should change the new battery?
