Default Poop! First breakdown in a decade

Just gone to the car to go home and it won't start.

Turns over fine but no ignition as far as I can tell. Tacho is dead so I'm guessing crankshaft position sensor? Got a big yellow bus on the way now anyway - I doubt they'll be able to read the fault codes so it'll be a tow home job ☹️ Saves a gallon of petrol I guess 😆

Just as well it's happened now and not on Thursday - going to a funeral then! Good thing the 850R is still drivable (it's got a radiator leak, albeit a small one)

A good thrashing would be too harsh, with that record!😁

Was it the crankshaft sensor?

Sadly, yes. Been looking for a possible replacement for quite a while, took a long time to narrow it down to one possible vehicle (CR-V) that was big enough to carry what i need to carry but most of all, easier to get in and out of with a low enough load deck at the back and a high enough seat.
I got spoiled by the Jag where the seat automatically moves backwards to let me out and then forwards once i'm in.

Don't know if you've ever seen it (or know of) but there's a fairly famous clip of John Cleese (comedian) getting upset with his car when it breaks down. Here it is :

https://youtu.be/_n77eoOfRPE

I'm guessing that's what Andrew was referring to.

I had noticed you were a bit less active on the forum and I was wondering if everything was alright healthwise and all that. Didn't know you had deVolvoed. You could have lifted the car!
I think the CR-V is an excelent option. Even today I was mentioning to the misses that I would like to have either a CR-V, an HR-V or a Rav-4. I really like the HR-V the best. It's a cheap car, not too off-roady. But all 3 are great.

Round my neck of the woods, a lifted Volvo would probably go un-noticed as there are many lifted Jeeps and similar. I looked at the HR-V but a bit too small, RAV-4 didn't do it for me and had a higher load deck.

Glad you enjoyed the John Cleese clip, he did a similar sketch in the film Clockwise, again using an ADO16 as the victim but it was a saloon.

I know what you're saying. I think I prefer the HRV precisely because it is smaller.

Btw, lifted wagons can, very surprisingly, be done with great taste. I don't know why someone would do it, but hey! I've seen a build on turbobricks of someone who made a pickup out of a 740, Chevvy El Camiño style.
