Default Counterhold tool 5284

I picked up my new crankshaft locking tool today. FYI, it cost £39.12 with the VAT (£32.60 exc VAT). When I asked why there was no discount for being a VOC member the parts man in the dealers said that they sell special tools 'at cost' so they can't sell them any cheaper! The quality looks very good. Photos attached. If you look at the second photo you can see an additional tool that was included in the box. I'm guessing it is for locking the tensioner? But it looks like it does more than just that. Anyone know or would like to guess?

On second thoughts, maybe it's not a tool for the tensioner but just a hook to hang the tool on a proper tool board that the dealers used to use?

I recently bought one of those, and decided the other item was a hook to fit on a Volvo tool rack. They work great and enable you to do the crankshaft bolt up to the correct torque. So easy to use. Should have bought one a long while ago.

We agree on that then. I've not changed a cambelt before so I thought it would give me the confidence with the correct tools. Even considering the cost of the tool I'll still be saving money over getting a mechanic to do it.

I've said what a good thing these are a few times on here but some people think wedging screwdrivers in the flywheel etc is just as good !

I was really pleased by mine, saved a lot of grief and made what turned out to be an easy job into a very easy one. Well worth £40!
