There is high vacume in the crank. I have to use two hands to remove the oil cap with the engine running. If I pull the dip stick I hear a distinct Pop of the vacume. When I place my thumb over the dip stick inlet it sucks with considerable force. So it seems there is more vacume than pressure. If this makes any sense.

This guy ...

... says his excessive vacuum was caused by a broken diaphragm in the PCV box. Does yours have one of these? Mine doesn't have anything of that sort.

Note: This guy is one of those annoying people who makes his videos without a clue what he's going to say, and spends most of his time saying "er" and "um" and long pauses while he gathers his thoughts. I apologise in advance. He's tedious to watch, but it's the only one I could find.

Thanx Canis. Appreciate the help. I heard about this diaphragm. I had a look for this but could not quite identify it. I did find that on the top of the pcv there is a rounded section of plastic which seems to be separated from the main pcv. I wondered if this diaphragm was not possibly inside there. But it's a sealed unit and I did not want to damage the pcv by opening this.
