Quick update.

Had the beast in the workshop. Fuse is fine (already knew that) but then apparently it goes from the fuse to a distribution block on the drivers side. 12V in, 12V out. From there the cabling goes into the center console.

They have said that the Selekt Warrant will almost 99% not pay out if the socket is faulty or if the connector on the back has simply fallen off. He said if they reject the claim, it's at least £120 for the labour time to rip the console out

I don't understand how a car with a clear electrical fault under warranty wouldn't be covered if the socket is faulty or the connector fallen off as surely that's either bad design of a faulty component. They also said if the connector itself was damaged, that probably wouldn't be covered in their experience.

So basically I'm now having to ring the original garage where I purchased the car (less than 4 months old) and tell them it needs repairing yet again.

On top of that, the dreaded 'Reduced engine performance' warning happens all the time now but I was told yesterday that if the car thinks it's solved it, it erases all traces of the fault both in current stored faults and history. How stupid is that? Fine clear the current fault, but how is the car allowed to erase all the history including the actions it's taken of it's own accord?

Also now got rain sensor and adaptive cruise issues . . . .

Hi all,

Quick update.

12V socket is now working. The connector had fallen off the back of the socket. I asked how on earth that could have happened but they didn't have an answer. Maybe it wasn't installed properly at the factory . . . ? Time will tell to see if the fix is permanent!

Reduced Engine Performance turned out to be a blocked MAP hose (£87) and sticking EGR valve (£440.50)

New EGR was covered under warranty; MAP hose wasn't but Volvo have paid for that due to the length of time I've had the car.

This explains the low MPG which has already jumped up from the original and the car certainly pulls better (didn't even realise it was low until I got it back with the fixes!). Almost like a cheap Polestar upgrade

Good to hear you got it sorted. It's a shame Volvo don't seem to be brilliant with warranty issues. In case you have any more problems the supplying dealer is legally liable within the first 6 months but really you shouldn't have to resort to law.

I've found my local Mini dealer much more willing to help with issues on a car I bought on a whim, no arguments about warranty or not buying it from them, so far they've just fixed any faults and claimed the cost from the supplying dealer or covered it under warranty, it's a shame so many others can't make it hassle free.

Default Same problem

I’ve the same problem
It looks like I have to remove the large fuse cover to remove the small one. I can see how to release the small cover but How do I release the catches which hold the large cover?

You definitely don't need to remove the large fuse cover to get the smaller one off. I found using a teaspoon handle very useful to be able to hold the inner catch in.

For reference, it's fuse 22 if it's gone. Screenshots of the manual attached.

Default Puncture problem highlights no power issue

I had a puncture and so attempted to use the compressor to get to where it could be repaired without destroying the tyre. I hadn't used the compressor so only hen discovered it wouldn't work.

The boot outlet worked but the lead isn't long enough to reach the front wheels fro there.

I had a spare fuse in the car but after contortions to change the fuse found that was not the problem.

Haven't solved it yet but it's well worth checking to see whether your cigarette outlet works!
