D3 Geartronic MPG and electrics
I bought my D3 (13 plate) in June last year from a main agent and it had been a Volvo UK car from new, FSH with 17k miles.
Since then I have been carefully watching the mpg and it's, frankly, awful at around 40 - 42 on average. I don't drive stupidly and my driving is split between town and motorway on roughly 30/70% respectively. I always use decent diesel but seem to be forever filling the bloody thing up. I realise that it's an auto and this will have a bearing and neither do I expect the official figures but I did expect better than this. Any of you other guys drive the D3 Geartronic that can comment whether this is normal? Aside from that I have started to notice a few little gremlins with the electrics. On a recent trip from the Lakes the radar 'blocked' though granted it was persisting down so that may explain that. Since then I've had warnings to tell me the boot is open when it wasn't and today the road sign indicator on the TFT display was stuck on 30 when I was on the Motorway. Am starting to think I may have a problem car but would appreciate views. Thanks in advance. |

Mine is relatively new (just over 4000Km on the clock) and I'm getting just under 6L/100Km (that's about 47mpg in your language). I expect to get more as the thing runs in. This is in a mixture of motorway and local driving (with a split that I'd guess would be close to yours). I tend to drive for economy (gentle acceleration, anticipation to avoid heavy braking). The official figures are unrealistic in real-world situations; I'd love to see 60mpg (4.7L/100Km), but I doubt that I ever will.

We have a 2013 D4 Geartronic that my wife mainly drives (since new), now with 25K mls on the clock. Get avg of 42mpg (6.8l/100kms) in that. On a long run, this increase to 50-52mpg.
However, it does get driven fast on the autobahns here (usually around 100-130mph).

Actually done an indicated 146 once but the chassi is simply not built for that kind of speed.....
