The wooden box conceals the gas tank. It's only a small tank, so it's a pity that it so severely limits the load space. The same tank could have been let into the locker base, like mine, so preserving the original floor level, or better, it could have had a bigger tank in the spare wheel locker.

It seems to me to be a shame when people do that - the whole point of an estate is to be able to carry gigantic loads like wardrobes etc.

It is a 2.3 though, so if I needed another car at the moment I'd be tempted despite having then to get the gas sorted out.
