Pumaspeed mount now fitted (see):

http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/product-N...peed_15758.jsp

in place of the vibra-technics mount (see):

http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/product-V...1080.jsp&pic=2

In summary, the Pumaspeed mount appears to keep wheel tramp at bay just as well as the vibra-technics one did and the gear changes remain crisp and concise (far better than with standard mount). Vibrations are minimal (similar to standard). On the down side, I'd say that subjectively the handling felt very slightly crisper on the vibra-technics mount (which is a bit more rigid and therefore holds the engine in place that wee bit tighter) and I've lost my lovely 5 pot growl in the cabin . I'd say if your car is a weekend toy, fit the vibra-technics but otherwise go for the pumaspeed.

Mine arrived today (Pumaspeed). It will get fitted tomorrow morning so I'll report back on the difference.

As I've now surpassed the 150,000 mark and the mount on mine is still original then I think it is need of replacement.

I've done a little research and I'm tempted to go for the E-Focus (electric Ford Focus) mount? Bit of a long shot but anyone had any experience with this mount to date?

I have no experience of it but it looks suspiciously identical to the Pumaspeed mount. The descriptions posted of it on that forum are remarkably similar to my experience of my newly fitted Pumaspeed one and that's some coincidence. I've a sneaking suspicion that the Pumaspeed one might allegedly be an E-Focus OEM mount.

The newly fitted Pumaspeed mount is without doubt the best mod under £100 I've had done to the car. No wheel tramping with a fast getaway, slightly more 5-pot growl in the car, no noticeable change in gearshift and the only tiny downside being minute vibration through the steering wheel noticeable at idle.

I can heartily recommend this for T5 drivers who've been annoyed about the banging noise from a fast start. It's bugged me for 8 1/2 years and now finally fixed for under £100. Magic!

Nice one! I think I want one now (in that it's probably better than the 'uprated' OE one I've got).

Definitely the best sub 100 mod apart from maybe an r design steering wheel ;-)

Yes I'm a complete fan of the R-Design steering wheels. It is amazing the difference in feel and comfort when driving.

Well I've gone and ordered the E-Focus torque mount and now await its arrival. It is coming from the USA so I'm expecting a little import tax but the mount itself cost £53 including the postage and will be looking at about another £10 in tax. So all in all will be less than £65.

I'll post up pics along with an appraisal when it arrives and fitted.

If only my sport wheel had cost under £100. I bought mine in 2006 for nearly £250 from Volvo.

Having switched to Pumaspeed, I have a vibra-technics mount in as new condition if anyone fancies a more hardcore orientated mount (note that whilst vibrations on the vibra-technics are fairly severe below 2000rpm, the handling is markedly improved and the 5 pot growl is AWESOME!). Open to sensible offers.

I've just had fitted the pumaspeed low vibration engine mount and wanted to post my opinions.

I have a 2005 2.0D S40 which can sometimes be stubborn going between 1st and second gears or engaging first. I also feel a 'notchiness' when engaging the other gears and when accelerating they gear level would shift slightly. Vibration in the car was never an issue.

Result - In my opinion the result is barely noticeable. Vibration is still not an issue which would be good for people who have that concern about the unit. But I bought the mount with the understanding that it would help smoothen gear changes. I feel that the mount has helped but only by a very small amount. For the £100 or so that the mount and labour cost I wouldn't recommend it. I will now begin looking for another solution to help.
