Audio installers in w.yorkshire
I have an alpine changer that I want installed in the boot.
Anyone know of any decent installers near Bradford/Leeds who can be trusted to install the cable from the headunit to the boot without making a mess of the panels? |

Why not have ago yourself, they're not that difficult. I haven't tried a volvo yet, but if you open the doors, you usually pop off any plastic trim covering the sill and door frame seal, then lift the door frame seal so you can see the edge of the carpet, then just lift it slightly and lay the cable in. You might have to undo a seatbelt lower mount to be able to lift the carpet enough and/or remove the rear seat base but that's it.

Hi ya,
I have been thinking of upgrading my stereo and fitting an Alphine jukebox, but why don't you fit it in the glovebox area its easy to do. You have less cabling and you can change the magazine (whilst not driving of course) easily too? mark.

I assume when you say "boot" that you have a saloon not an estate, I ran the cable from the back of my 850 estate to the head unit, it only took about 40 minutes. The route is in place, all you have to remove are a few bits of trim etc.
There's also a chance the the Volvo cable is already in place, are you connecting to a Volvo head unit? if so I think you need a Volvo/alpine interface cable or adaptor. Jim |

I have an estate...I don't really want to put in the glovebox in case some toerag breaks in and finds it.
Looking at the trim around the bottom of the door sills, you're right it does pull off...mine is really tight so I didn't want to force it too much. I have the adapter cable for the headunit on order....and was going to mount the changer in the spare wheel well if there's enough room. |

The factory fitted changer in an estate is held in a bracket, vertically ie.front up, in the space below the panel on your left when you open the tailgate. You can probably get the volvo bracket to fit in with the Alpine changer, may need a couple of holes drilled to suit.
I have a Grey plastic hinged cover over my space, this is also available as an accessory but I think its a silly price! You probably have a lift off panel over the cubby hole. Check in there you MIGHT find the changer is pre-wired. If you have to run a cable, the floor panel forward of the panel over the spare wheel is held in place by a few screws and two or three concealed clips, when free it slides off to the rear, you'll find plenty space in there and you can follow the route of the plastic cable duct all the way to the passenger footwell. Good luck with it Jim |
