Niggles,
What paperwork did you need to take to the port? Presumably you need all the ownership docs etc , insurance and the C104A Did they issue you a temporary registration there and then that allows you to drive for the 30 days until you do all the tests etc? Thanks, Ben |

Yeah - ownership (Pink logbook/V5 or BFG 75), insurance (although I didn't have Cyprus insurance I had a green card from my insurance company in Germany to cover me). You then get a temp registration for 30 days. I didn't have a C104A from SBA customs as I am here on slightly different rules - if you did you may find that they actualy register the car - not sure. I also managed to blag 90 days as it was a couple of days before Easter and everything here was about to close down for a week (I only asked for an extra week or two!).

Insurance options in Cyprus
Sorry to hear that the main dealer couldn't help on the maps front - at least there are other options - and in truth - it isn't a big place anyway!
Who did you opt for for insurance? Do they offer no claims discounts etc, or run parallel to a UK policy? Grateful for your advice N |

Varios insurance companies - I have gone for one that was suggested by a neighbour - after phoning around a couple of places they were the best price and most responsive. They do NC discount (inc protected) and very similar policy cover to UK. I am not sure if I am allowed to say names on here or not?

I also had a PM message about driving rules in Cyprus. Sadly I don't have 30 posts yet so can't reply (seems to be a forum setting) - but in reply:
Yes - based on UK driving rules it is pretty similar. Just remember that places have 2 names now (Nicosia is now sign posted as Lefkosia etc). You will need seperate insurance if you wish to drive to the north - this can be purchased at the crossings, but check with the hire car company that the car is allowed to go north). Also be aware that driving standards are very low so drive defensively! They do not always bother stopping at red lights etc. Enjoy - the weather is great at the moment. Niggles. |

Hi Niggles,
Just wondering if you are in position to give any info on the registration process etc. Getting close now, so any info is gratefully received. Thanks, Ben |
