Default Steering angle sensor

V70 D5 2004

Morning all,

Apologies if this has been done to death but the search function doesn't work when on my phone 😬, have an anti skid warning light, just had abs module repaired to get rid of that light, bit of research points to the steering angle sensor, are they available anywhere new? Pattern part? Don't really like the idea of used.

As ever any help appreciated

Have you had the codes read - that's essential.

A new steering angle sensor was over £200 when I looked into this awhile ago. I doubt you can buy a non-OEM part.

I haven't bothered to fix it on our V70 as it's not an MOT fail. I just turn the message off!

Not sure whether it helps your situation but there is a calibration you can do with vida

Presumably it will either not work or come up as failed if the sensor really is faulty but it's surely worth a try

I seem to recall reading somewhere (or seeing in a video?) that the wheel needs to be turned slightly for it to calibrate?

if it fails try turning one way or the other before giving up

If push comes to a shove, we had our SAS replaced when we purchased the car (series 2 V70). The one that came out was intermittent (probably needs a bit of contact cleaner in it). I can send it to you if you will cover the postage cost.

Do either you or @Matttt still have old faulty SAS sensors? Looking to get a couple in hand to reco and make available as cheap exchange reconditioned units because new is very expensive. I do a full tear down and clean and adjust trim on the PCB for the analog photoresistors which can sometimes loose a little luminosity due to age, requiring adjustment of trim pot on the PCB. done a few and they all work reliably. Cost effective and reliable option for forum members.
