240 saloon wanted (pref LHD)
Hi there - I'm in the market (or will be September time) for a very sound 240 saloon. Will be for European/holiday use so really keen on left-hand drive. Would consider buying in Europe and registering in the UK.
I'm more concerned with the engine/mechanicals than bodywork - a few dents are fine but it must have a good service history and be well cared for! Reliability is key. However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't go for an immaculate car if it came along. Obviously diesel is the ideal due to economy, but OK with petrol. Not picky on trim level etc, but can't stand red cars. Ideally late 80s/early 90s. Definitely saloon not estate. Working heater a must, good air-con a plus. Hoping someone here might know a reliable English-speaking artisan Volvo geek in northern Europe with a barn full of gleaming LHD 240s. Something like these in LHD - http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C293911 http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C265875 Ed etkreeves at yahoo dot co dot uk |

I would suggest to check www.leboncoin.fr for reasonable priced volvos which are mostly rustfree.
I would be more concerned for a good body than the engine/driveline. The engine drivline can be exchanged quite easy in a day. But getting a body in good knick will be a drama!!!!! |
