I love Alfas and have had many. The engineering is first class but the Dealers are appalling.
For the past 20 years they have used a clever front double wishbone suspension with the strut disconnected from the articulation. This is now the same on the latest generation Volvos. The rear suspension is a multi link that self steers in extreme cornering. The steering is fabulous. It has a fast action but is arrow straight. I advise on Alfa Forums to set the steering angle slightly less aggressive to prolong tyre life. Alfa set it up to be arrow straight at 100MPH. Achieved by about 7' of toe out which becomes close to zero at 100MPH with the drag of air on the shell. For most customers the Zero needs to happen at lower speeds. Of course, I know that a lot of potential car owners won't be in the slightly bit interested in the chassis and will choose it on the interior and it makes me cry.

Front wheels are pulling the car forward while drag is pushing body back

I'm not missing Volvo ownership... while my V60 looked lovely all round, accelerated surprisingly well and gave decent economy, my enjoyment was marred by the nagging feeling that any minute there was going to be a warning light come on to announce low oil level, or the EGR cooler had blocked again, or the EGR valve had stuck open, etc, etc. I could definitely have done without the two breakdowns (first time because pretty much every warning light lit up due to a CANBus error, then second time because the EGR valve stuck open and stopped the engine) plus of course the seemingly never-ending recalls. It really irked me that I had more faults in the first year (and a lot more resulting expense) than in the previous ten years when I racked up over 100k miles in a Honda Accord!
If I hadn't been a member of this forum I'd have considered myself to have simply been very unlucky, however numerous posts here do show that my experience was typical of Volvo ownership. It was very fortunate that the dealers were helpful and Volvo UK might sometimes deign to contribute goodwill payments towards their mistakes, but ownership was not a properly relaxing experience and I don't think that I'd ever want another. I'm now driving a 2017 diesel Kia Sportage that just gets on with the job and I shall be sticking with Kia, with an EV6 and PHEV Sportage currently on order...

Lambo Urus…oh well, one can dream. But currently very happy with XC90 with windows up not listening to the tractor engine - young kids so this will stay until it needs to to do the job. Our other car is a Lexus. Now it’s a 2007 plate IS250L, fully loaded, and even today my wife and I prefer the Lexus. Touch wood hasn’t gone wrong. Except regular service has needed anything, and I can’t think of a single thing that doesn’t just feel premium…..before the XC90 we had Hyundai Santa Fe as the workhorse, and I couldn’t fault that either. Plus driving down single track Devon lanes on holidays I sometimes wish I am in that Hyundai - like the XC90, love the Lexus, would love a Porsche 911…..

Having taken delivery of a new Volvo In January - I am still a few years away from looking for a replacement - but if/when I choose to look for an alternative - it will most likely be a Lexus - NX or something similarly sized.
