Very strange, but your car should hopefully be fine to use for Scotland, even if you can't charge it from the mains. It will be interesting to see if the battery charges on the way up there to 12/15 miles range, (the max it charges to on the go) using the 'Save' button. If it does, and you still can't charge from cables, you'll know it's the socket or charging 'module'

When done, I can disconnect the charging cable. My local Volvo dealer has tested the car and found everything to be in order. The fault is consistent, every time I use the cable that came with the car, it is impossible to disconnect. Like it is magnetic attached to the car. Any ideas?
Just out of interest, what are your unlock settings under "My Car"?

You can set it to unlock only the drivers door on 1st unlock, it may be that?

Thanks for the response. Thought I'd post an update. We did take the car to Scotland, after a quick trip to Volvo Maidenhead to make sure there was nothing to prevent this. Drove in Save mode for most of the 800 or so miles and it did indeed keep the battery at 12 miles charge. MPG suffered of course, but to be expected.

Got the car booked in for 21 October 2023. The morning came to take it there and the thing died completely. Would not start in any mode and displayed various hybrid system errors. AA had to trailer me to the garage where I picked up a loan XC40 (quite nice to look at, OK to drive, hate the 'iPad'...).

Long story short, I got the V60 back on December 29th, so it was there for over 2 months! Replaced under warranty were:
  • Complete hybrid battery
  • 'On board charger' - I think they mean the ISG which is no longer ringing like an old school telephone in Save mode. Will be keeping an eye on this.

Plus some unrelated bits I ask to be fixed. Main delays were i) waiting for Volvo Tech diagnosis and ii) several weeks while new hybrid battery was shipped from China....by sea - green I suppose.

So I'm now just getting used to the car again. Am able to charge from the wall box, but now the 'granny charger' is no longer working so I'm waiting for a new one of those. MPG is already creeping back up and, silver lining and all that, now I have a new battery the 30mile range should last my tenure of the car! Volvo Maidenhead have been very good BTW, much of this delay was out of their hands.

Off to Wales next week so we shall see then how well if compares with the trip to Scotland efficiency wise.

Anyone have any idea to get 'Direct Start' pre-conditioning working (no remote access so have to use the buttons in the car). I'm doing what it says but nothing happening. Maybe there is more warranty work coming up...
