Default Engine cross bar mountings

Im stil chasing a terrible vibration on my D5 185.

I have replaced the two small cross bar mounts.

My quick Q is:

Should they look like this where the bar attaches to the mounts?

i.e.

left side, its slightly raised above the mount

right side, it sits flush.

if you could take a look at your D5 and let me know if its the same?

Thanks

Hello A lex,

I just replaced mine on 2005 2.5T as far as I remember they look exactly as yours. I am flying home tomorrow in the evening. I could post some photos on Saturday for comparison if you wish.

I just replied to this on pistonheads - get that nearside mount changed - it's knackered.

Ditto...

The "lower" sitting one will probably be letting the bar physically touch the mount, which could well be the problem!

Various bits of progress!

Right mount was knackered (brand new) as suggested by Martin.

Replaced with original mount which made a huge difference.

Also noticed that the mounts were probably in upside down - ie, the rubber cap was at the bottom, and should probably be at the top.

The original mounts came out with the rubber cap orientated downwards, so looks like someone put them back incorrectly before my tenure??

Have since reversed orientation of mounts, and initial test drive seems promising
