Default C30 AC/fan noise

Hi everyone, I am picking up a 58 C30 D5 manual on Saturday, the only thing I noticed when viewing the car yesterday both stationary and driving was a high pitched whining noise from the blower motor/HVAC system.
It would do it when the AC was off but the noise itself would remain the same, irrespective of fan speed. Once the fan was above speed 4/5 it couldn't be heard and would only disappear when the fan itself was off.

Other than that, I can't wait to get back into a Volvo after a few years of company driving whilst the Mrs has been cruising around in an XC40, much to my annoyance

you might find a leaf or something has been sucked into the fan cage.. or a dry motor bearing? Is it a mechanical noise or an Air noise?

Thanks Clan,

Definitely mechanical. I've driven about 150 miles so far and the noise disappears when turning left and runs on for a couple of seconds once the engine is switched off and fan running out. I'm getting it looked at in the week but it can't be heard over 40mph so not overly concerned

Squeaky brushes or a dry bearing bush ? Try spraying some WD40 into the air intake with the fan and air set to SLOW and FLOOR of course, It might just go away.
