Default 850 T5 OBDII Help Needed!

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a 1996 Volvo 850 T5, and I love it! The only thing is the Service Light is on and I'd like to turn it off (having serviced it myself).

I have investigated a few OBDII code readers, including a handheld, Elm327 (neither of which work) and most recently an OBDII interface with serial to USB convertor running with vol-FCR, which I can get working to a point and that's where I need some advice.

The error I'm getting is "no response from car, wait 3 seconds and turn the ignition to position 2".

I've got the OBDII cable fixed in place with the light on, the device manager on my computer recognises the COM1 port and everything seems to be hooked up fine, however I just cannot connect.

Can anyone offer any advice? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading my first post!

Tim
