Ok, I’m even more confused now..
Since yesterday afternoon it regain most of the power, I have connected the race chip box to it, cars feels quicker and the judder on higher revs is almost gone.. I think it happened when I was going on lunch.. managed to drive into a massive pothole.. maybe that dislodged.. something back into place? ..I know sounds silly! In the evening I was on the short motorway drive and I’ve noticed that the car started smoking again after acceleration. Maybe the DPF got unclogged and it started clearing? If my car has a dry DPF how does it work? Does the car do something every now and then to start the process? Can dry DPF get badly clogged and needs some proper cleaning? Was thinking about fuel additive or terraclean? Les |

This is my goal believe me! I’m not a fan of those at all! But the way I’m looking at it.. Car used to drive with this box.. that is how the car was sold to me.. if something went wrong I want to rectify it until I still have warranty from the dealer. Don’t want to remap now.. . as if they will figure out what is going on may decline to do any work on it… also don’t want to get remap and have the same issues that I’m having now. With the box I can disconnect it quickly if needed. I’m already looking at Celtic Tuning for the remap but as I will have to in the near future replace back box (corroded a bit) I might get it changed for something more free flowing and then remap it |

Sorry to keep banging on about it but does your inlet manifold look like this?
If it does, you don't have a DPF. I'm just making sure.

TT,
Mine looks like this: https://1drv.ms/i/s!AmpepmyVAGwkthSXJk-qGRJ3b1pY ...so I guess the same thing.. only difference is that I have rubber intake pipes. Guy from Volvo said that my car has a dry DFP (the one that does not need changing). I thought this was only fitted in the cars with an automatic gearbox. Oh well I got some DPF cleaner so will see if that will do anything. Les |

That's good news then and a bucket of money saved. Anymore progress?

Yep dry DPF or not having DPF at all is a very good news!
Will be doing some longer driving during the weekend with the DPF cleaner and I hope to replace my Fuel filter (while my air-con is getting recharge). Will see how this works. Got a second mechanic booked later next week to do further investigation. It feels like it got better recently and I think that something was just clogged (DPF or fuel filter), but still there are some strange noises.. a short whistle sound on acceleration, there is a bit of background "thumbing" noise which is not revs dependent and some more like a cricket noise.. which sounds like a connector of loose cable hitting something spinning. Those are not loud.. but I think my paranoia kicks in and I got sensitive to all the strange sounds form under the bonnet |

My 50 had issues when I first bought it and I was listening out for anything that could possible an issue. I wasn't aware they fitted a dry DPF to the C30's, you learn something new eh?

Update:
So I have been to a garage that sold me the car.. told them everything asked them to fix the aircon and change the fuel filter. It took them 3 days to fix the aircon and I had to pay for it as it was broken condenser and they said it is not covered by the warranty. Obviously they haven;t done anything else. Got the car back to them this morning. They allegedly changed the fuel filter now (somehow I dont believe it) but there was no one technical to talk to so they didn't tell me if anything else was done. I didn't have to ask.. after short test drive I can tell that it is still f****d. God! how much I hate car salesmen and mechanics! Grrr! I wouldn't mind the hassle of it so much if they would have provided me with a courtesy car. I found a local turbo specialist and asked him to do inspection on the car with the report (that is going to cost me £50). I think I will end-up part-ex'ing this car for something else :/ |
