Doeas the 1.6 petrol have an engine cover?
Simple question really!!
Just went to fill up the washers on my wife's 2011 1.6 petrol S40 and noticed it had no engine cover. Can't say she's ever noticed really Only been in for one service at dealers so far - if it had one they're the only people to have failed to replace it. Homer |

Nope. It should have a valve cover saying Volvo, but otherwise it doesn't have a cover. This is how it should look:

Not for the 1.6l petrol. The other 4 cylinders (diesel and petrol) have a cover. T5 and 2.4/2.4i don't. The D3-D5 do...

Ach well,
Looks like a bit of a wipe every now and then will have to suffice. Homer |

generally as a rule only the diesels have engine covers and also splash guards underneath, all to help keep the old oil burner quieter, lol

Tell my 2.0l petrol the same then. Underfloor cover and engine cover - and it isn't a loud engine. Engine covers are to hide cables, pipes, hoses, etc. Splash guards (on nearly all Volvos, even the old RWD - except diesels!) underneath for better aerodynamics and protection against thrown stones etc.

don't get splash guards on the old large platformers if you have a petrol actually, its only a option. Also if you look on the underside of the engine cover and the top of the undershield you will find wadding that IS designed to quieten the engine. Your 2.0 petrol should not have an undershield, suspect optional extra.
