Default Sourcing AC cnmpressor for 2002 S80 2.9L

How to find correct AC compressor for S80 2.9L (B6294)?

The AC compressor on the 2002 S80 2.9L (B6294) has a leak. Local garage charges A$1000 for a geniune Volvo compressor and A$800 for aftermarket part. Ebay and some US online auto shops sell the compressor in a considerable lower price (new or used) even when I facor in the postage.

The problem is I don't know which compressor to choose. Some claims their compressor fit 99~02 or 99~06 S80 but how can I be sure it is the one for the S80 2.9L NA?

Part numbers seem all different from all sites and I don't even know faulty compressor's part number.

Do I only need to look for "2002 Volvo S80 2.9 Sedan 4-Door 2.9L 2917CC l6 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated"? Does year matter? Say ACompressor stripped from 1999 or 2000 S80? Saw this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-2002-Vo...8446a3&vxp=mtr, title says fits 1999-2002 Volvo (S60, V70, S80) AC Compressor, but the compatible list does not have 2002 S80 but 2000 and 2001. I thought S80 from 1999 to 2002 were same?

I bought one for an S60 last year costing £70 from a local breakers. I just bought one from the same year and model car. It worked and still does work fine.

The compressors have a part number on a green label, there are a few different types, the main difference seems to be the connections for the aircon pipes.
Try getting the part number from your dealer. They are generally quite robust and therefore not very expensive second hand.
