What would you buy?
Hello,
My colleague has asked me to help them choose their next car (foolish perhaps?!). So I thought I'd ask you for your input... The car must be able to accommodate two primary aged kids and their stuff (though they'd prefer 'not an estate'). The car will do urban driving five days a week but longer journeys during weekends and school holidays etc. They have quite an open mind regards brand... Budget is max £4k. I know what I think - but I think I'd recommend what I want (which isn't neccesarily what they need!). Appreciate your thoughts: choices and reasons why... |

Have they considered something like a VW Bora, for the budget they are on, they could get a relatively low mileage decent spec model...that is if they are not brand snobs like we clearly are

I can't think why they wouldn't want a 'sports wagon', it's not as if they're not going to get the mpg, power or roadholding nowadays, why try and cram so much into a 'saloon type'?

A Nissan Tiida for reliability if you guys have that in Europe. Even a 2007+ Kia. It depends on the mileage and maintenance records.

If they will not go for an estate then a Skoda Octavia hatchback. Reliable cars and a cavernous boot. If you have young kids then you will need a good sized boot that has easy access. That rules out saloons for me. There should be plenty of used Octavia's out there.
