yeah true
but how the hell would i get hold of vida, from what i have seen you need windows 7 laptop not had one of them for a loooong time would be handy though.. also volvo sales guy said on newer volvos than mine when you change the battery they have to reinstall software back on the car, no idea what software he is on about but sounds a bit pants tbh |

thats what he said newer volvos presume ford-derivatives
when swapping battery they have to plug in their prescious device saying that my 2012 v70 had no battery for a week put it back in no issues suspect volvo shenanigans as for vida acquisition... i shall look for it, as it would save me a fortune in bloody labour alone! |

Search svdns.info it gives good info on the various ways of acquiring vida and the various ways of connecting to the car ie using a dice unit or mongoose cable etc.
Not being too computer savvy and finding windows continuous update process a pain on my home PC I bought a laptop (from a chap on ebay) with vida pre installed which I use exclusively for vida it will never be connected to the Internet. I took a punt and got my "mongoose " cable direct from China for about £30 .Via ebay they tend to be about £70/£90 . So to sum up for me it was possible to get a dedicated set up for about £150 even if I'd got the cable from the UK it would still be sub £200. There are a few good youtube videos which show the main features and once you get used to using it it really is a powerful tool. There are usually a couple of sellers on ebay selling various setups. PS I was advised not to use the software that came with the "mongoose" cable and the laptop seller installed suitable software prior to sending it to me. |
