Change Your Diesel Filter
Just changed my diesel filter and couldn't believe what I found, I've never seen a filter so distorted due to being clogged, when removed it still held diesel internally that took around 30 mins to drain. The date stamp is 13/12 so it could have been a while since it was changed , the car has main dealer history up to 92,000 miles in 2017. The car now idles a little quieter and has a bit more go. Moral of the story is make sure you change your fuel filter on time. Here are some pictures.

The thing is it only took around 30 minutes once I had all the kit together, I have watched a number of youtube videos and everyone gets covered in diesel all I can say is take your time and use a piece of hose on the drain plug it saves a lot of mess and makes for a cleaner job.

I don't recall getting covered in diesel so you must have missed my video.

Nah, I just learn from my mistakes. I have been covered in diesel in the past.

I was getting a sensor error (P2585 from memory) and my C30 going into limp mode. I could clear the error and all would be fine again. I decided to get something done about it and I read, perhaps on here, that changing the diesel filter could sort it out. So I looked at the service history - and the filter had never been changed.
When I bought the car it'd done around 55k miles and had a FSH, some of those dealer services. I've since had the car serviced by Volvo in the UK, and once again here in France. Again, the diesel filter was not changed. I've done around 75k mile now so I'm guessing it was due! So, to return to the story, getting the filter changed was both necessary AND a good first step to sorting out the sensor error. It set me back £230ish... the sensor error has not reappeared (touch wood). Last edited by C30inFrance; Oct 29th, 2022 at 16:03. |
