Default Towbar for 2013 (MY14 model) XC60 R-Design

Hi. Looking for some guidance.

I took delivery of my new XC60 D4 R-Design today and I'm looking for some advice on fitting a towbar.

I'm aware from similar threads that there may be an issue fitting them to R-Designs because of the bodykits. I'm looking for a towbar that's ideally detachable plus avoids bumper cuts.

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Least visable bumper cut is likely to be Witter or Westfalia vertical detachable towbars.

Look on ebay, towbarman01 petertowbars or pfjones should hook you up. For electrics get Volvo genuine kit.

I don't know if same applies to the R-design as on my SE Lux but Volvo do a neat colour matched cover for the bumper cut out. I seem to recall that if you bury down into the Witter site it shows bumper cut-outs if needed.

Default XC60 Rdesign towbar

I am struggling to find if anybody supplies a towbar without bumper cuts for a rdesign model xc60.

Does anybody know a good and reasonably priced fitting place in around Leeds. Would prefer volvo dealer but must be too expensive.

Thanks

It might be a bit pricey but the standard dealer detachable has a cover that is pretty difficult to spot from a distance and has the correct wiring - very happy with ours as fitted by the dealer from new.

I looked into all the options when I bought our XC60 and decided on the genuine Volvo one in the end.

Although it was more expensive have been so pleased that that i did. It is so neat whether on or off and a nice (almost invisible) cover fitted when not in use.

There is also the satisfaction of knowing that the wiring is bespoke and does everything that it should.

Well worth the extra in my opinion.

Good luck.

Mike

I know I have a pre-facelift, but my removable towbar on a 2013MY R-Design has to be the tidiest towbar installation I have seen. OK there's a large cutout in the bumper, but with the neat and easily fitted plate that Volvo provide it looks great.

It's a bit like Volvo telling you the R-Design can't have mudflaps, mine was a dealer owned car and came with mudflaps (and towbar) fitted when I got it at 5 months old.

I think all tow bar arrangements for the XC60 will involve a bumper cut. Took delivery of my 2017 model D4 SE lux on Monday which has the Volvo fixed bracket and that's got a fair size cut for it.

I don't see why people pay extra for detachable brackets - with a fixed one present you reduce your risks of bumper damage from others careless parking.....

the reverse applies too , you are likely to damage other cars when parking, and hit your shin when loading the boot
