B4204t3 handles b4204t5 turbo?
Hi guys. I have a b4204t5 200hp 2002 v40 but my engine gave up so i got a 60 000 km b4204t3 lp turbo cheap and fitted on car.
Well of course now i only have around 160hp with all old t4 parts... I fitted block and turbo of new engine. Old t4 gearbox and all old electrical too... Well since this is a 12t turbo is it bad if i fit the 14t turbo on it? Will it handle the hp turbo? And will it go up closer to 200hp? Thx |

Old T4's gearbox is M56, witch indeed is the same as 2t motor, excl. a lil differences in transmission ratios. This is not a problem. B4204t5 block is heavily than b4204t3, but low mileage is your advance in this situation. So block is not problem, too. 14t turbo bolt on to new exhaust manifold, and as you save your ECU, this is the right decision! Cause the fluel/air mix will be exactly OK, If you use 14t, you will save the engine better, and indeed you will enjoy to stock 200hp (or close)

Yes the mileage is what made me buy it and the price.. Hard to find the b4204t5.. And this one brought the turbo and all... Just not the gearbox.. All for 600 euros..

my advice to you is to install 14t turbo and made a dyno test. if the result is 180 hp on wheels or close you'll be ok i guess |

The B4204T3 160/165bhp engine being inferior to the 200bhp 1855 T4 will suffer if fitted with the 14T turbo.
Best thing to do for reliability is to turn up the wastegate on the 12T to get around 12psi of boost as that is the safest maximum boost on this engine the approx. max. you will get is 197bhp with maybe an exhaust mod also. .

hi.. well i did do that on wastegate.. screw the bolt in the end... and im doing 0.7 bar..( stock was 0.5 bar ) and believe me not close to 197hp. the test im doing is by reading Maf data ( MAF VALUE : 0.8 = hp ) .. so im getting around 125g/s = 156hp... on GPL.. well far from the 160 g/s on old T4.. maybe im doing something wrong? |

B4204T3 and B4204T5 blocks are identical only the pistons are different causing a slightly higher comression ratio in the B4204T3 engine (9:1 vs 8.5:1 in the B4204T5).
I have and old S40 with the old 2.0t engine (B4204T) and I have 14t on it with T4 ecu and dyno'd it @197Hp. |
