They were being stored free of charge and being used for training of the NI Police when they were scrapped - it was a Boris Bashing stunt that cost the rate payers and TFL users over £300k.

For me it's not about whether you have socialist or conservative views, many of Sadiq's decisions are clearly based on point scoring politics and posturing and not the best interests of London residents and workers. I nearly vomit when I hear the radio adverts that end in "To the mayor of London and TFL...." he's just on a big ego trip, I expect one day he will be running for leader of the Labour party.

So yes, for the reasons explained above, I firmly blame Sadiq Khan.
Its like Communist china in london with all the "Praise be myself " from Sadiq . and the usual "we have done a great job" .

The Home Office's own assessment at the time quite rightly declared them to be unsafe. Nevertheless you're probably correct about a licence now being granted, given how low this populist government will stoop to appease its thick, gullible and unpleasant core voters. Thing is though - like all of Johnson's schemes - it would simply be abandoned with blame being heaped on everyone else as the costs rack up.

Did I say that? No. Those goalposts of yours are quite mobile, aren't they? Seems you'll move them to anywhere you like that let's you rant at the London Mayor in general rather than address the topic in hand or actually reply to what someone else wrote.

"Basic trained drivers" eh? I wonder if you have any idea of what is involved in being an LT driver? Or are you just jealous and angry that someone is earning a decent salary? FYI LU drivers earn pretty much the same as overground train drivers nationally. From a safety perspective I'm quite glad they are well-trained professionals. They hold people's lives in their hands just as much as pilots.

And as @Cull06 has pointed out, special London cycle lanes, which aim to boost commuting by bicycle, do not negatively impact traffic speed.

But your other comments here and elsewhere make it clear you are not interested in (or capable of?) taking actual facts and evidence into account in general, and especially if they don't support your hate for Mr Khan.

London like communist China? FFS! You haven't got a clue. I've visited China and the level of propaganda and population thought control in general - let alone the atrocities in Xinjiang - are on a totally different planet to anything coming out of the London Mayor's office.

You are obviously not open to rational debate, can hardly string a sentence together (I've refrained from pointing out some of the more incoherent sentences you've composed) and clearly never going to give up your ranting hatred. It is closed and bigoted minds like yours that are the real problem with this country - you are easy fodder for right-wing populists to take advantage of, even though everything they do is in their own interests, not yours, and you simply refuse to see it.

And @Tannaton...
So, "many of Sadiq's decisions are clearly based on point scoring politics and posturing and not the best interests of London residents and workers.", eh? And Boris's decisions re the conditions imposed on LT to help it financially (I remind you that these were entirely different to the support given to national rail franchises and other public transport systems) were not point-scoring politics of the worst kind? And worked completely in favour of the interests London residents and workers? By, for example, forcing the extension of the congestion charge which was what started this whole thread? Hmmm. Well, if you say so - but it makes no sense to anyone with any rational thought in their heads.

I'm sure you're both content to stick in your shared bubble full of bile and hate and jealousy and anger, but if you ever try to let some facts and evidence in, you know you will start to feel better. ;-)

If you think a train driver is worth almost double what a nurse gets then you are nuts . Its all down to pathetic unions .The sooner they ban them the better . There is rational debate , fun debate and god dam boring debate held by boring people .... Have you not see all the brain washing adverts all over the place ? Given the vote , Kahn would be out of a job tomorrow

And dont worry Ive been to China many times .In fact I lived in HK for a Bit and I was conceived there .and entered into China 40 years ago . As for grammar etc etc .Its a social media forum , not a University thesis .

so you feel so superior using the "I remind you" . would you talk to someone like that in a bar ?

and then you end with "if you dont agree with me then you are not rational and we that are are again so superior"

I can be rude, but you just come over as a snobbish intellectual bore .I know the type , super bright on paper , But dim and boring in real life to men and women alike

It may be a social media forum but it does help to be coherent.

Again, DID I SAY that I thought a train driver was worth double what a nurse gets? No. But you impute that I did and imply I am therefore nuts, merely so you can move the goalposts a bit further and now have your little rant about unions.

You never seem to actually engage in any proper debate. You don't seem to actually address the points others make or the evidence provided. You are not in the least bit interested in 'debate' and I rather think you are clueless as to what that word means. It does not mean an exchange of rants, or ranting about something new when challenged about something previously ranted about.

Maybe paying nurses more might be a better solution than ranting about why train drivers should not be paid so much more than them? Nurses, who are highly unionised, by the way.

You really want to ban all unions? So millions more can be employed on zero-hours contracts with no rights, at minimum wage (possibly including you, perhaps, and probably nurses)?

BTW the first thing any right-wing authoritarian / fascist regime does is ban unions (unless they are wholly controlled by the state). Your wanting to do the same speaks volumes.

If you've been to China many times and you still think that what comes out of the London Mayor's office is equivalent to what goes on in communist China, you are more deluded than I thought. Or wilfully blind.

So, I'm going to try to resist the temptation to point out the shortcomings in your little rants from now on. You are clearly only here - on a Volvo forum of all places! - to indulge your deluded bigotry, and you probably get a kick from continuing to try to wind others up. So my usual motto 'don't feed the trolls' probably needs to be applied here. But I cannot absolutely promise not to do the same in return (wind you up) if I think you need it. ;-)

And yes, if having a decent civilised discussion with someone in a bar I would say that. Politely. As I did. And I had to remind you, because you ignored it the first time round. I did not say that you were not rational for not agreeing with me. I made the point that it was not rational to insist it was all the fault of Mr Khan's point-scoring, when there was clear evidence it was the fault of Boris's point-scoring.

You are rude. Was saying "I can be rude" a statement of pride? And then, here we go - can't sustain any debate or argument so descend to ad hominem personal attacks.

Typical.

I know what you said .... and I quoted it . And rude can save a lot of time .As the great Helen Mirren said... "Life is so much easier when you just tell people to F/O " . YOu entered into this and recently started to get lost on your academic attitude towards others. You clearly state you are so much cleverer and others are stupid and not rational etc .You are no better than me except in grammar and the few odd facts .
If I said "it is raining outside. You would be the person to say no its not ... " as its not raining where you live.
