So N/A in general is always more reliable ? Compared to my current 500 Nm I hope the 320 Nm torque would not be too bad or I would still need to opt for the D5 200 ..... That Californian 3.2 has done 154 K in miles so should not be too bad

@TruckBusUK:
Such a shame as I thought it would be a straight swap of headunits and that would be it, simple as I am ...... Have you heard of anyone who has undertaken that challenge ? Might try and ask some Xenon specialists in Germany and Netherlands too, I think LED dipped beams are still illegal in both UK and Europe

There have been some attempts in the past ... have a search on the forums.
Re specialists ... don't forget that Volvo software can only come from Volvo dealers and specialist indies with download subscriptions to Volvo.

Don't forget that although the petrol cars have lower torque figures than the diesel versions, the gearing is different (final drive) so the torque at the wheels will be higher per Nm at the flywheel.

A good example is the V8 XC90 has only 10% more flywheel torque than a D5 of the same year.... but it buries it off the block - 0-60 in the region of 30% less.

No, plenty of brand new cars have 100% LED lighting these days

But the headlight and projector / reflector lens system must be designed and certified for LEDs.

Many (smart) countries forbid fitting of LED units into headlamp assemblies designed for halogen or HID lamps. For obvious reasons.

@SwissXC90: you are totally right and that is what I should have mentioned: retrofitted LED dipped beams in halogen or HID units. What an advantage it would be to have the possibility to upgrade halogen units to HID or LED beams, if conforming to the technical inspections.

Totally different question to you: what is the length of the MfK actually ? Is it 3 years from the day taken ? I was told it is even more thorough than the HU/AU in Germany ? Looking at CarForYou from time to time and tempted by some of the offers :-)

Default My XC90 is for sale, see the sales section :-)

To whom it may concern, I have put my XC90 for sale, tentative as I would really prefer to switch to a LHD XC90.

Please see the sales section on here and do let me know should you have any questions or remarks !

Cheers,
Alain

Default New XC90, headlining replacement needed and more ...

Hi all,

although it has been 10 years of membership of this excellent forum, I have still not come to terms with the search function of the forum so I will post my question in my own thread.

My RHD 2010 D5 185 Executive has gone to Scotland and last week I found a LHD 2006 (pre-facelift) XC90 2.5 T with only 155800 kilometers (less than 98K in miles) from the estate of the only owner. It is a car produced for the UAE and the owner drove it there for 10 years before having it shipped to Norfolk. As it looked slightly dusty (owner passed away end of last year) the car came with not only the fully stamped book yet also with a folder of about 100 A4s, consisting of the original invoice, all Volvo main dealer history in Dubai and independent garage in Norfolk as well as all MoT test over the past 17 years. Even better, it is from 19.03.2006 so just in the cheap tax bracket :-)

Inspection was really good, I need a few things to replace though:
- Saggy headlining including on the sunroof. As I am only on the 6th Volvo and this one having spent a lot of time in Dubai I was told this was really common but ofcourse the next question is: does anyone know of a great yet not overly expensive upholsterer preferably in the South East or around Oxford to fix this issue ?
- There are nearly new h7 halogen headlights. Originally the car came with LHD HID/Xenon headlights so I have to change them back as I always have the headlight failure service message appearin and wondering if there is any chance of finding used LHD HID/Xenon headlights in the UK or best to source them in Europe ?
- Last year there was an advisory on the rear shock absorbers .... do these pre-facelift versions have the Nivomat or not ? Any brand recommended ?
- The N/S mirror (passenger mirror in this case being LHD) is not adjusting enough and even manually it seems stuck to the extent that any more force from me will probably cause it breaking. Now it is the folding, memory and puddle light mirror and I was wondering if the connectors for all pre-facelift mirrors are alike ?

Thank you all for your thoughts, that is if you have some :-)

If it is a 7 seat car it should have nivomats, easy to tell the nivomats. Have rubber bellows over them (search Google images).

I would look on eBay for lhd xenon headlights… there will be Volvo breakers in all sorts of EU countries.

Cheers Tannaton, it is a 7 seater indeed so I will check just to make sure.

Ebay Europe is a good one, it is so funny that I kept thinking the bulbs were gone when I read the message in the dash until I visited the Volvo specialist in the Netherlands who first looked at the stickers under the bonnet, referring to HID lights in Arabic, then they looked at the light cluster on the dash by looking at it they could tell me the car should have Xenon and then the headlights failure service required message was the final indication that upon importing the car, the Xenon headlights were swapped for H7 halogen units.

Have you seen a headlining replacement topic on the forum ? Typed in all kinds of variants of headlining/rooflining in the search function together with XC90 and still it brought up all kinds of topic except the one I hoped to find .....
