There is a lot of adjustment in those strip ambient lighting systems and far more colour variations. I guess the ads have the systems at high levels for impact?
In the last Skoda I had I could dim them down to a low comparable with the Volvo system. Big difference however is that they are multiple strips around the car at lower level which gives a much more even and 'cuddly' ambience. The real problem with the Volvo system is that it is just one tiny LED (or 2 in some specs) cascading light down. Multiple led at different heights gives a totally different ambience. That is why I was so disapppointed. I do agree about the blonde interior though. Purple is the colour I use; mainly because it is the only one I can detect casting any shading anywhere.
