Default Map downloads

So my map is showing issue 1326 and the latest ones are 1350 on the Volvo map website. So, I am going to download the latest maps. Now, I have painfully slow internet at home at the moment so will take a while to download over the internet onto a memory stick. That is fine, I can do that overnight.

But.... how long will it then take to transfer to the car? And do most members do the full 52gig Europe?

Any thoughts?

Yes, I tend to do the full Europe update if downloading onto USB (because, well you might as well!).

It takes around 45mins-1 hour to install in the car, but just leave it going, and it will stop and restart as and when you drive the car.

I carry out a full maps update about once a year. My internet isn't particularly slow but it still takes a good few hours to download and that in part may also be down to the servers where the maps are being downloaded from.

It takes a good few miles for the update to transfer in the car, however, just leave the memory stick in and it will pick up where it left off if you do a short journey and have to turn the vehicle off in the middle of the update. This doesn't affect the update in the car at all.

You will have to download Sensus Update SPA Europe onto your computer to then download the relevant file.

Pretty painless process.

I had to use various different USB sticks to get it to work. I've eventually found one (I think it was a mid-price Sandisk) that the car seems to get on with and, as others have posted, it's then just a matter of leaving the car enough time to do the update.

The pain for me is that the same USB port that is needed for the maps update is the one I use for Apple Carplay (so that's effectively out of commission while updating).

I only update the UK/Ireland/Iceland (I think it's North West Europe) because I've no plans to be driving further afield. I'll do a bigger update as and when I need it.

Default Map update not working using Sand Disk 32GB

Hello, I tried to update my XC60 maps using a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 stick - 32Gb. The SanDisk USB stick was not recognised by the Sensus Navigation system (2014). I also tried different formatting options.

I then tried a 32 GB memory card from a digital camera plugged into to a USB adapter and this worked.
