I picked up a V40 a couple of days ago and was given complete set of manuals. However the manual covers so many options and features and clearly some features common to other models that it is very confusing in places. In particular the description of the menu system needs to be rethought and a much better portrayal of the nesting hierarchy is badly needed. I used to think that Airbus produced "difficult" manuals but they are a model of good practice compared to what I got.
In this day and age it is not too difficult to tailor the manual to a particular vehicle by referencing it to the VIN. That doesn't get over the fact that the technical authoring is a bit iffy in places. Before anyone mentions translation issues I shall just mention that the best technical documents I worked with were written by Dutchmen (and women) in English. Exmpa |
