Default Electric roof problem

Hi I'm new to the forum and new to owning a volvo.I have recently bought a 2000 plate C70 convertible. I'm hoping someone can help me sort a roof problem?
Roof was all working fine when I bought it, but the other day I went to open it and it started to open then stopped, the rear of the roof seems to be catching on something. Went to close it and it won't... Had to manually shut it using the tools in the kit. Tried to open it again rear of the roof raises about 2 inches then seems to lock and can't close it again. So I've closed it manually again so it's water tight but don't want to keep trying it incase I'm doing some damage. Anybody have any ideas on what this can be?

When lowering the roof, the windows should all drop around 4 or 5cm. If they don't then the roof system powers off; the fault often occurs if there is a damaged microswitch in the roof boot/bay (which sends the signal to the roof control module) - they can snap off their mounts all too easily - if you can raise and lower manually with the winder, look for a snapped off tab or a loose switch in the roof bay. If they are all intact, then the fault probably lies with the control module not sending the signal to the window motors.

You will need to read the roof codes using a DiCE and Vida to find the fault.

Hi there thank you for your reply and advice. I had a look at it today, the windows didn't drop as I pressed the roof switch and it stopped as per usual then nothing.
I manually lowered the roof and in the process found that the left hand rear catch wasn't releasing. I managed to unscrew it from the the from the roof so I could open it completely and take a look. Will this switch failure cause the windows not to drop resulting in the roof not opening? Only asking as looked up the switch part NO:8614956 and it's £120. Don't mind spend it just want make sure it's that before I get one?
Cheers

You really need to get the codes read, as there are many parts to the system that can cause the roof to fail. Trying to identify the problem by replacing parts can turn into a very expensive procedure if your initial guesses are wrong, especially if it turns out to be the roof control module in the end.

Maybe there's someone nearby with a Dice who may be able to help.
