Default Beaulieu VOC stand

I have manned the Volvo Owners Club space at the annual Beauleu spring autojumble for almost every weekend it has occured since the '90s, and on the whole very good it has been too.

However, this year the Sunday sadly coincides with our Southern BKV, an event I would dearly like to visit again, as the main BKV will be too far north for this pensioner to fill his Volvo 164 (twice) to attend.

I can do Saturday May 16th but we are looking for a willing volunteer to do Sunday May 17th. Our sections chairman (who has now sold his Volvo) was nevertheless going to man our area, but couldn't extend his local holiday as he wasn't able to get accomodation for an extra day.

The Owners Club has always had its regular space there (see "Driver" reports every year) and it is a very necessary representation as the Enthusiasts Club had until last year their stand there too.

If you are reasonably local, won't be going to the Southern BKV and would like 2 free passes to this big event (plus museum) PLEASE get in touch, as it would be tragic if we can't be represented on May 17th.

From meets I have attended, they seem to centre on a pub or (if larger) a venue with either a museum or stately home (like the Southern BKV at either Sparkford or Basingstoke Milestones Museum, or our Volvo Gathering at the Bentley house, Wildfowl display and motor museum).

Beaulieu is on Lord Montague's estate, with all its attractions including their world-famous museum. However, we have no control of anything there: we have an allocated space at their huge autojumble and must abide with their stringent setting up/health and safety/decamping rules. Therefore any or in fact all visitors are, to them, merely the public, who must pay at the gate to enter.

This unfortunately prohibits any chance of a Volvo meet on their grounds, however if anybody local can arrange a meet at a nearby pub, that would be good for a swift snack and chat before driving home after a successful purchase of all those elusive Volvo spares at the autojumble!
