Polestar Optimisation Deals?

Anyone had the polestar done on a S90 D4?

Whilst I know it's subjective, what are your thoughts on confort mode/dynamic mode - before and after in terms of real time driving.....

I'm concerned that there may not be much improvement (whereas obviously D5 and T5 etc would give greater improvements).

The torque and power curve changes significantly with the Polestar upgrade.

Look at the mid-range difference, which is the bit almost all drivers would notice in day-to-day driving.

24 extra BHP and 40 extra NM of torque across 1,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm; and where the original map tails off at 3,000 rpm.

It makes a very noticeable difference to how the car drives IMO.

It transformed my XC60 when I had it done; hence why my new V60 is having it done before I pick it up.

What’s peoples experience of this on the old non SPA vehicles.

My stats are:

Current: 200BHP 310Torque 10.3S 0-60
Polestar: 210BHP 339Torque 9.9S 0-60

That’s around £600 when on offer for 10BHP, 29Torque and 0.4S speed increase. That sounds really really expensive for not a lot…

Has anyone experience of pre and post on this type of vehicle?

My XC60 was 190BHP 400NM Torque, and with Polestar went to 220BHP and 440NM Torque.

It dropped the 0-60 time by 1.5 secs (ish).

However, the headline figures isn't where you need to be looking; you really need to understand what it does to the power and torque curves.

It broadens them so that the car becomes much more enjoyable (or easier depending how you look at it) to drive.

Given that Polestar is offered with a 14-day money back guarantee, you have nothing to lose really - try it, and if you don't see enough difference to make it worth the outlay, get them to take it off?

I've not even driven the new D4 with it, but I've ordered it anyway as I know it will bring the car alive properly.

Called garage in Maindenhead, 600 for a major service, and 575 for polestar...will call a few garages around my place

Cheekily asked if they would also give me the normal 20% NHS discount on top, he didn't say no...

Yes. I’ve previously had a non polestar s90 d4, then an optimised version. I found a big difference in responsiveness esp on trailing throttle coming up to roundabouts.

Got mine done as mentioned, but the dealer wouldn't give me any more discount.

Bit miffed at their reasoning though, and I just wish they would be up front and say "sorry, but we are not going to discount it over and above the official Volvo deal". Instead the receptionist made up a story about how they could lose their franchise if Volvo found that they had offered a further discount over and above what has already in place. I pointed out that other dealers had further "special" offers but they weren't interested.

Yeah, I know. That was the rubbish that most frustrated me, I just want them to be honest with me
