Default Wiper mechanism

Hi all was out driving tonight and got an almighty bang from the wipers and the drivers one is way out of sync with the passenger side.

I have sourced a second hand one to pick up tomorrow was seeing are they easy to fit or is it specialist tools job.

I’ve had a quick look and one of the bars has literally snapped, they have been abit slow lately but didn’t think this would happen.

Straightforward job.
You may (will?) need a wiper puller.

I had this on our older XC and it is straight forward but having a pulled for the zipper arms makes all the difference. I used a ball joint separator to good effect.

All sorted not a bad job but not having a puller to hand I used a screwdriver to leaver and a hammer to crack the arm.

But I did catch the spline and ended up having to file the edge to get the nut back on but got there in the end and it is nice and quiet and back upto speed as it included the motor.

Here is a picture of the old one you can see where it snapped.

Cheers everyone again

Daniel
